Nelson Basa grew up in Paete, the small but thriving community dubbed the Woodcarving Capital of the Philippines. At a young age, Nelson apprenticed with famed sculptor Angelo Baldemor, which cemented his desire to pursue a life in the arts.

Through diligent study and constant practice, Nelson developed his skills in painting and sculpture to earn a livelihood through art. He creates beautiful acrylic paintings that capture the gracefulness of nature. He also specializes in wood sculpture with an aim to express his thoughts through the strokes of his chisel.

Thus, it is no surprise to find him working as a professional kitchen artist in a prestigious hotel, where he manifests his skills by sculpting and designing in different mediums.
