De Leon,

In painting, as in learning, Marque P. de Leon finds inspiration in Audre Lorde’s saying, “Our feelings are our most genuine paths to knowledge.” This means that the deeper we connect with our emotions, the better our minds will be in understanding ourselves and the world around us.

Marque is a young artist immersed in the creative, not only as an active member of the ARTipolo Group in Antipolo City but also as a student of architecture. Away from the demands of school, he uses different mediums—such as graphite, pen and ink, charcoal pencils, watercolor, soft and oil pastels, alcohol markers, and acrylic paints—to render his emotional interpretations of the living world.

True to the words that inspire him, Marque seeks to plumb the depths of human experiences to express the unspoken emotions hidden in every condition. He hopes his works will have the power to touch the minds and souls of viewers of his art.
