Tamayo,
Attorney Yam Tamayo is a self-taught artist who started painting in 2017. She counts the cubists as inspiration for her early works. She leans toward the abstracts, because it is through this style that she could think outside the box and let her imagination run wild. She wants her paintings to feel random, spontaneous, chaotic—“a colorful mess,” if you will.
Yam’s paintings depict ordinary objects that could mean different things to different viewers. She used to work exclusively with acrylic paints, a medium that allows her to take advantage of the flexibility of the palette knife. But that was before she discovered a whole new world in watercolors. This medium had long intimidated her, but she immediately fell in love with it after seeing the magic that water brought out of the pigments.
If she’s not busy attending court hearings or writing pleadings, Yam can be seen on social media indulging in her other pastime: chronicling humorous anecdotes. And, being a true-blue Filipino, she can be possessive of the microphone once the karaoke machine is on.
Yam has joined various art exhibits as a member of ARTipolo Group, which she credits for her growth as an artist.
